At 8:30 we're having a rather extensive breakfast and an hour later we leave the hotel with friendly goodbyes from the lady at the reception that also checked us in yesterday evening. We drive back to Zutendaal and we park the car in front of the locak kebap and pizza place after which we walk to the church. Good timing: the bus leaves in 6 minutes and since the bus is also perfectly on time we're back at the railway station in Genk at 10:30.

In front of the railway station there is a nice wooden signpost for the GR5, and that seems to be the last signpost as well. Along the main road we can't find any markings and since the GPS track claims we should enter the downtown we simply do that just to find markings again. Actually it is a nice way to leave Genk (Hasselt may want to use this as an example). A short piece through the downtown followed by a long section through the park following a gravel path. Once passed underneath the main road we enter the forest again. And what kind of forest it is! Until Wiemesmeer nice long paths and silence apart from birds singing. Close to a high voltage powerline we have a snack break and then "disappear" again into the forest. A bit of a bummer that after Wiemesmeer we're still in the forest but following a tar sealed cycle path. Especially because at at least 2 locations we see the possibility to use a forest track while the GR5 keeps following the tarmac. For a hiking route that is kind of strange.

But before we realise it we're in Zutendaal and thus at the car. We leave before 13:00 back home. This was one relaxed morning walk...
