We take the same bus 14 back to Molvange. Unfortunately it only goes a few times a day and so we can choose between 7:00 in the morning or 11:20. It's holiday and 7 o'clock is a bit too enthusiastic for us so better the 11:20. Result is that we won't be in Molvange until about noon.
The first part in the direction of Escherange is flat over a tarmac cycle path. Just after the village the route climbs a bit and we enter the forest. We stay in the forest until we have to descend steeply in order to cross the D14 trunk road. By means of a tunnel we pass underneath the D14 and at the other side we turn right onto what is the old D14, now a cycle path. It's a looong climb over the tarmac before we finally have a forest track again. Here starts a long track passing high above Algrange with some nice views over the valley.
Almost beyond the town we're confused again. We haven't seen a sign for a while until we reach a T-crossing of forest tracks where a sign tells us to go left and steeply down. There we get to another crossing without any sign indicating where to go. We try all roads from this crossing but without success. Ok, then we first have a snack break and clearly that helps because I just realise, what if we went wrong earlier on and now actually got back on the route? So where we descended so steeply maybe we should have come from the other side, hence climbing steeply? And so we crawl back up and at the side track to the right that we actually came out we now go straight ahead. And indeed, we now see a sign further ahead. Problem solved.
We continue walking rather flat through the forest until the path starts a steep climb to get out of the valley. It is a serious effort but eventually we leave the forest and after some more meters of gentle climbing we're at the highest point. Now it descends again, first slowly but steeper and steeper into Fontoy. The steep tarmac road entering the village hurts the feet, but we made it! And we're lucky as we arrive at the main road close to the bus stop where in 10 minutes bus 1 leaves to Thionville. Perfect planning!
